Diego Palacios is a 9th grader at Roosevelt High School. He recently joined their football team it now means everything to him. Football has taught him teamwork and communication.
He is now going to the semi finals and has a shot at winning the championships. Diego recalls the friendships he has built on the team and is thinking about going to college so he can become a professional football player for the NFL. Diego says that believing in himself and never giving up is helping him keep his head up.
His growth mindset has led him to receive important awards.

GT: I’m going to be asking you 10 questions if that alright.
DP: It’s alright
GT: What are your goals for this year?
DP: My goal is to win the championship for the Variety Boys and Girls Club flag football team.
GT: What do you want to be when you grow up?
DP: I wanna go pro in football or go to the NFL.
GT: Why?
DP: Because it’s been my dream since I was 5 years old.
GT: Is there an event that really impacted you?
DP: Covid because it just wasn’t my thing and there were too many assignments.
GT: Who is your favorite relative and why?
DP: Probably my uncle because he told me lots of stories.
GT: What is your happiest moment in your life?
DP: When I culminated last year, I was able to get the first award that now one has ever gotten so I was the first person to get it.
GT: Are there any words of wisdom you would like to pass along?
DP: It doesn’t matter what people do, it matters what you do.
GT: What is the hardest thing you have ever had to do?
DP: Wake up at 6 in the morning.
GT: If you would be able to change your career what would it be?
DP: An engineer because I enjoy making things?
