The Expansion of Birria

Birria has been around for many years. Recently, it has risen to fame and it has become mainstream. Now people are making their own adaptations and creations of Birria for others to enjoy!

Juicy, cheesy, savory, and spicy are all words that can be used to describe birria. Over the past few years, we have seen birria becoming more mainstream and it can now be found in more eating places. Birria has risen and the popularization of birria has led people to create their own unique versions of it.


 Birria is a meat stew or soup made from goat, beef, lamb, mutton, or chicken. The meat is marinated in an adobo made of vinegar, dried chiles, garlic, herbs, and spices before being cooked in a broth. Birria is a Mexican dish from the state of Jalisco. This dish is mostly eaten and prepared during celebrations such as parties. Since its growing popularity, many restaurants have made their unique versions of birria.

Birria is a dish that can be enjoyed by everyone. It gave a sense of comfort, food, and satisfaction. Many restaurants have noticed this rise and have decided to take advantage of it. Restaurants now have added birria as part of their menu to attract more customers. Some even take it to the next level to create their adaptations of this food. Ranging to birria tacos to Ramen Birria, to pizza birria. This has made businesses stand out since they use their creativity to create versions of birria to please their customers. Recipes vary as well, as people like to come up with their own ways to prepare and cook birria. 


The Birria Spot located in Los Angeles, has their unique adaptations of birria. Jose, the owner of The Birria Spot, shares his journey as a business owner, “What made me want to open my own business was to prove to a lot of people that I was capable of starting something out of nothing and be my boss with hard work and dedication.” 

Jose uses his belief in hard work and dedication to always create new and innovative menu items and always keep people coming back. “Our most popular dish would be the Birria Ramen and our Birria Quesatacos,” explained Jose. This is just an example of some of the many unique adaptations Jose has done to keep people returning to have a taste of Birria. 


Their excellent customer service and care are what also makes them different and unique from others. “My goal and mission would be having more stands and restaurants,” explained Jose, “but at the same time keeping up with quality to continue to make our customers happy.” While creating distinctive adaptations of the famous dish, Jose makes it standard for his customers to stay satisfied with quality food, while also feeling welcomed. 



Birra has brought many people together in different situations. It is a comfort food for all. It is what sells to pay the bills. It is even always prepared for an important event in someone’s life.
