The path to Recovery and Discipline

Bertha at a young age had a hard life but she found the path to recovery

My grandma has helped me a lot especially through quarantine. When it came to being alone in the house and now having anyone to talk to, my grandma would always come over and take me out somewhere to eat so I wasn’t stuck in the house all day. Not only that when my mom needed help when I was a baby my grandma was always there to take care of me and my sister.

At a young age she didn’t believe in god because of a lot of things that happened in her life but she has learned over the years that “God is the author of our lives. He’s the author of my life, but he’s also a gentleman and lets you choose what you want. And because of that, I suffered” explained Bertha.

During quarantine after class my grandma would come over unexpectedly to pick me and my sister up to take us to 7 eleven to get a 7 eleven hot dog and a bag of chips. At this point I was in a very vulnerable state and for her to make the effort to come over during hard times helps out a lot. When going into quarantine a lot of stuff were happening in my life to people who were close to me and I had said “I hated them” but my grandmas response to that was “I would love them because no matter what they think or what they want to do, love surpasses everything”

At a very young age Bertha started to have a really hard life. Her mom had passed away and she had know one to support her during those times. She was put into a hard moment into her life but remembers, “The happiest day was when my oldest daughter was born.”

She may have been through hard obstacles and she had her ups and downs but she has recovered from them and has reflected off of them and she hopes to teach me and my sister why not everything is perfect.
